In Constantinople, Proclus Lycius was born, the philosopher who would become the final towering figure of classical Neoplatonism. His elaborate philosophical system synthesized centuries of Greek thought and profoundly influenced Byzantine, Islamic, and medieval European philosophy. Demchugdongrub Was Born

A Mongol prince caught between empires

Demchugdongrub was born a Mongol prince of the Borjigin imperial clan, the same lineage as Genghis Khan. He would become the leader of an Inner Mongolian independence movement and later head of the Japanese puppet state of Mengjiang during World War II. His legacy remains deeply contested: some see him as a Mongol nationalist pursuing Pan-Mongolism, while others regard him as a collaborator who served Tokyo's imperial ambitions.
